Strong Sun Moon, June 22

The Strong Sun Moon reflects the Sun on the longest day of the year. For us in the Northern Hemisphere, summer begins the time of nature’s abundance. Our task is to align ourselves with this abundant nature so we can tap into this abundance in our own lives.

The summer is upon us with this Full Moon of June 22. The solstice, or longest day of the year, has passed. So even as summer begins, it’s almost hard to imagine that the days are already beginning to shorten as we move towards the shortest day of the year or the winter solstice on December 21. Just as the days shorten or lengthen, the moon also has its own waxing and waning cycle. These growing and shrinking cycles remind us that everything is always in a state of flux, in a state of growth and retracting. Time doesn’t stand still; instead change is constant.

For us in the Northern Hemisphere, summer begins the time of nature’s abundance. Over the next few months, fruits, berries, seeds, vegetables, grains, all of nature’s bounty becomes available for harvest. This is a time of acknowledging nature’s abundance. It is a time where we can marvel that a small seed can become a large plant with its own abundant harvest.

Nature is truly abundant. Our task is to align ourselves with this abundant nature so we can tap into this abundance in our own lives. As the sun sets on longest day of year and reflects the Strong Sun Full Moon of the summer solstice, allow yourself to reflect on nature’s abundance and through its appreciation, bring abundance into your own life.

Next Month: The Ripe Berries Moon where we learn about the sweetness and thorns of ripe berries.
