This moon we turn our attention to the “all or nothing” paradox, which is a very dangerous practice of scarcity thinking. The delay caused by not starting means that nothing got started and nothing got done! By not starting, not even doing a little bit, and ultimately not finishing your tasks leads to scarcity practices in your life.
This lunar issue abundance tip expands on learning to recognize limiting & scarcity thinking. This time we turn our attention to the “all or nothing” paradox, which is a very dangerous practice of scarcity thinking.
Common in our Western world, this “all or nothing” thinking process goes something like the following: “I don’t have enough _____, so I might as well not ____.” Fill in the blanks. For example, “I don’t have enough time, so I might as well not even begin.” Or “___ is going to take so long, why even begin?” In whatever way these sentences get finished in your mind, they stop you from starting something because you feel you can’t finish it in the time available.
The delay caused by not starting means that nothing got started and nothing got done! By not starting, not even doing a little bit, and ultimately not finishing your tasks leads to scarcity practices in your life.
This “all or nothing” scarcity practice is similar to the “not enough” scarcity pattern or anything that isn’t “all” is “not enough” so we nothing happens. Eventually, there will never be “enough” to do “it all” and “nothing” will ever begin and ever get done eventually causing paralysis in areas of your life.
The key is to break this cycle of “all or nothing” thinking and trade it with “something” thinking. Essentially you begin where you are and do “something” just to get started, to begin the process. If you don’t have time to do all the dishes, do “some” of them. If you don’t have time to do your regular morning routine, do the part you can. If you want to clean the house and don’t have time to do the whole house, do one floor or certain rooms. If you need to make ten phone calls, but don’t have the time, then just make one call. Do something!
What you’ll find is that by doing something you’ll begin to feel more accomplished by getting something done. This feeling of accomplishment will grow and provide energy to get more done the following day maybe even get “all the rest” done.
"Something" is a powerful practice for abundance in your life. Start recognizing “all or nothing” scarcity thinking and replacing it with “something” action today.
