This Freeze-up Moon is a time to get grounded. Allow your own energies to move down into the earth, to feel the earth, and feel grounded in your daily lives. This Freeze-up Moon is also a time to be sensitive to all energies of your environment. Finally, this moon-time is a time of disclosure, building on last moon’s time of reflection. Allow your verbal disclosure to move yourself forward toward the year’s end without any baggage from this year.
This Freeze-up Moon is a time when the energies of the earth retreat below ground below the frozen ground. Many lessons or reminders come with this time of late fall and approaching full winter.
It’s a time to get grounded. The energies are moving deep into the Earth, below the freezing point, and this is a time to allow your own energies to move down into the earth, to feel the earth, and to feel grounded in your daily lives. With the last Ducks Fly moon, you practiced balancing both earth and sky/heaven in yourself, this Freeze-up Moon encourages you to get grounded in yourself and your energies.
This Freeze-up Moon is also a time to be sensitive to all energies of your environment. Do you remember a time when your hands/fingers or feet/toes got very cold? Do you remember what it felt like as they began to thaw that tingling, almost burning, sensation as they regained their sensations? Now is a time to apply that type of hypersensitivity to the energies around you.
Learn to focus your energies to become sensitive to the energies of the world. This time of freezing is a good time to practice opening up to these other energies, if you’re unfamiliar with them or the process. As now the energies are subtler and less intense than at other times of the year. As you practice this expansion of perception now, you will be ready to notice as energies shift from inward, grounded winter energies to expansion, growing energies of the new beginnings of spring. Then you can make your own corresponding shifts to stay in sync with nature.
This moon-time is also a time of disclosure, building on last moon’s time of reflection. After you have reflected on your life, the year’s abundance, etc., the next stage is to disclose out loud your reflective learning to the world. In the Peruvian tradition, they go to the mountains and tell the mountain spirits what they learned or understand. There is a profound energy in actually speaking out loud what you’ve learned that would not occur had you merely thought about it. Your voice has a special resonance as you disclose what you’ve discovered about yourself.
So take some time this month to speak out loud to the earth, to the mountains, or to the oceans, lakes, or springs, what you’ve learned about yourself this year. You need not make this an elaborate exercise, but allow yourself to honor and acknowledge your growth. This exercise may seem contrived or strange if you’ve never spoken out loud to your environment, so allow yourself to make it a light, joyful, playful experience. And after you’ve said your piece, let it go let go of any judgment, resentment, or unfinished business. Allow your verbal disclosure to move yourself forward toward the year’s end without any baggage from this year.
