Big Winds Moon, March 14

Now is the time to create your action plan for the Spring season based on your New Year’s Resolutions. How do you want these energies to bloom? What fruit will they bear in the fall?

When we began talking about this Winter season, we mentioned that change occurs over time and we suggested that you not forget to use the energies of the season and Earth to assist you in the changes you want to make. Since the Winter Solstice, the Earth has used the Winter season to rejuvenate and rest. Now the Earth’s energies are getting ready to bloom into Spring. This Big Winds Moon is the last moon of the Winter season, and the Spring equinox (when day and night are equal in length of time) arrives on March 20th; therefore, now is the time to create your action plan for the Spring season.

Hopefully you too have been resting and rejuvenating your energies with this Winter season. What do you want to blossom? For example, now is the time to change your patterns in your life based on your New Year’s Resolutions. Use your New Year’s Resolutions to solidify your action plan and get ready to use the Spring energies to move into action. Now, how do you want these energies to bloom? If you consider yourself as a tree or some other plant, what type of flower will you be this Spring? How will the flower fertilized? What will grow? What fruit will you harvest in the Fall?

Returning to the visualization exercise we’ve used this Winter season, imagine yourself sitting in Nature by a maple tree. Its sweet sap has retreated into the warmth of the Earth. As you sit quietly, imagine yourself merging into the maple tree. Allow your energies to retreat into the tree and down the tree trunk into the deep roots of the tree. Feel the Earth’s warmth and protection that are available. Allow your energies to rest in the warmth of the Earth. Begin to feel the energies of the Earth ripen and begin to come forth for the Spring. Imagine your energies like the sap of the tree that has retreated to the Earth’s warmth, but comes up into the tree trunks and branches during the lengthening, warming daylight hours to being production of the Spring blossoms. Then as night falls, allow yourself to retreat back into the warmth of the Earth to rest, renew, and be protected during the night. Once you’ve practiced this visualization of retreating at night and coming forth during the day, bring your energies back into your body.

This visualization mirrors the research that states that patterns take time to change. You need to tend to them every day. Usually it takes 21 days (3 weeks) for a pattern to change. Each day while you work to change a pattern, you need to tend to and practice an alternative way of being. While three weeks may not seem like a long time once its past, while in the midst of each day, you will realize the need for an action plan.

So during this ending of Winter season and beginning of the Spring season, put your plans for the New Year into action.

Next Month: Budding Trees Moon on April 13
