Money is the energy of power that marks our society. How do you spend your money? The best intention is to spend deliberately. But what does that mean?
How do you spend your money? Consider what money comes in each month and what you spend it on. Do you spend all of it? Do you work to always get the best deal? Do you save it all except spending money on the barest essentials? These can mark extremes, but there are many variations along a continuum of spending money. The underlying question is to get understand your motivations regarding spending your money and making money.
Money is the energy of power that marks our society whether we like it or not. (If you don’t like it, see last issue’s Abundance Tip on the perception of money.) This issue focuses on recognizing that how you spend your money is how you spend your power.
Perhaps you stiff a waitress’ tip for not good reason. Or you’re a spend thrift, spending your money when it doesn’t amount to anything, so that your power isn’t focused. What do these actions say about your power?
How do you behave with pennies? Do you pick up those you find? Do you hoard them at home in jars or other places? Do you throw them away? Or do you use them when you get them like any other coins? You don’t have to pick up every penny you see, but the idea here is to tend to the symbology of money and power even if the money is as small as pennies.
The ideal is to spend your money and power deliberately. For example, you could spend your money to pay down your debt, tend to your savings, or schedule purchases to a time when it’s best suited.
One idea to align your spending money with your power is to create a seed prayer. For example, every time you shop for food, you can put some change in a Food Bank receptacle with a prayer of thanks for the food you’ve purchased, that you may continue to have money for food. This seed can grow and helps to focus both the spending of your money with your power. Another area where you could create seed prayers is with your home and giving to the homeless. Think of ways you spend money and how you might want to create seed prayers.
So in this Budding Trees Moon, think about how you tend to your power and your money, because then you have power and money to bud.
