Corn Planting Moon, June 11

You’ve planted seeds during the winter and spring. Now is the time to decide which are weeds and which are plants worth cultivating. It’s also time to decide if you need to cull back some of the small seedlings so that you can focus on certain projects. Use the Corn Planting Moon to reflect on the seeds you’ve planted that are growing.

What do you want to grow? That is the ultimate question you must ask yourself in order to direct your life toward your goals. Now is the best time to focus your attention on what you want to grow, because the energies of the earth are busy with their growing season. Therefore, you have the opportunity now to have the earth’s energies work with you to grow your dreams.

This time of the Corn Planting Moon is nature’s transition from spring (planting or sowing seeds) into summer (growth). Summer is the time when nature’s abundance is evident everywhere with growth. So what do you want to grow?

Of course, what you grow has a direct reflection on what you’ve planted. What seeds have you planted during the winter and spring? Thinking about planting seeds with respect to your own life may seem foreign, but this is just a metaphor using Nature’s model. In reality, you plant seeds each day by the actions you take. By treating others well, you plant seeds to be treated well yourself. By eating well, you plant seeds for health. By paying off your bills, you plant seeds for abundance. So whether you consciously think about it or not, you plant seeds of growth, abundance, joy, happiness, clarity, success, etc. in your thoughts and actions every day.

Are you happy with what you’ve grown in the past? Yes, great! Repeat that process. No, how do you grow differently? The best approach is to plant different seeds. This is where you need to become conscious about what seeds you may have been planting. You need to become aware of your thoughts that direct your actions. Or you need to see how your actions reflect on what happens. In many cases, seeds contain beliefs you have about your life that limit you or disconnect you from nature and its abundance.

What if you realize that the roots of your discontent lived in the seeds or beliefs you have? If you want to change your beliefs, you can. The first step is recognition. Awareness will bring new insight. With awareness and insight, you are better able to alter your thinking when you are next in a similar situation and these ideas come up. The next step is to actively work to change your thinking. How do you alter your thinking? See the March Lunar Reflections “Abundance Tip” where we discuss two methods to change your thinking: affirmations and future questions.

So as you reflect on this Corn Planting Moon, reflect on the seeds you’ve planted that are growing. It’s not too late to uproot those small seedlings and plant new seeds. Then plan on taking advantage of the summer sun to grow strong.

Next Month: Strong Sun Moon on July 11
