Remember those 2006, 2007, and 2010 success lists you created during the Earth Renewal Moon?
Now is the time to brush them off and work with them again to find those that resonate with you the most and create an affirmation to magnetize its energy within you. Don’t delay, better than a New Year’s Resolution, we’re building energies for the Spring.
This is the time of the Rest and Cleansing Moon. In this Lunar Reflections column, we will expand on the exercises begun in January’s Earth Renewal Full Moon. We’d asked you to identify 5-10 successes from 2006, and write them down. Then we asked you to visualize your 5-10 successes during the equinox March 21, 2007 and looking back, examine you’d accomplished. Last, we asked that you imagine it’s March 2007, imagine out 2-3 years, and imagine your successes. So begin by locating those three lists that you created with the Earth Renewal Moon.
Sit with your lists and those dreams that have possibility in your life. Allow those that have merit to take hold within. This is the time of the Rest and Cleansing Moon, so it’s important that you still allow yourself to rest and replenish your energies. Now is a time to not get over excited about the future or tomorrow. Rather be with yourself in a spirit of nonattachment with your lists, yet with the awareness of the possibilities of life.
This is a time of cleansing as well as resting. So as you contemplate the possibilities of your life, cleanse your list by throwing out all those ideas that don’t resonate with you. Perhaps they once did, but they no longer do. This is the time to jettison them from your thinking. One of the best ways to really let these ideas go is to write them on a separate piece of paper and burn or bury that paper.
The idea is that in the end, you’ve selected 3-5 successes from each list that you resonate with. The next exercise will be to create an affirmation for that possibility that resonates within you.
An affirmation is designed to assist you to reinforce the energy of that possibility within your system to help create a magnet to draw that energy to you.
The process of creating an affirmation is to write a statement from your idea that has the following characteristics:
1. It is positive in nature.
2. It is written in the past tense.
3. It is personal in nature. That is, it is written as an “I” statement.
4. It is fundamentally true.
An affirmation has the sentence structure of a personal statement that almost always begins with “I” followed by a strong verb in the past tense. For example, “I completed…” or “I designed…”. Avoid weak verbs, such as “have” or “was”. Also try to avoid compound verbs, such as “was told” or “have been”. You’ll want to play around with the language of these affirmations until you’re happy with how they sound, because you’ll by saying them a lot.
The process for using the affirmations varies depending on your personal preference. But in all cases the idea is to say or affirm the affirmation a few times a day out loud. To assist you in this process, here are some suggestions:
· You can put them on a sticky note in some prominent place and say the affirmation when you see it there.
· You can also say the affirmation in front of a mirror as you look at yourself. This is an alternate way to reinforce these energies within.
· You can say your affirmations to your partner each day. This is a way of acknowledging your desires and affirming them to someone else who is in a position to support you achieving these goals.
· You can say these affirmations while lightly tapping under your eyes. Then say the affirmations again while tapping the outside edges of your hands together. That is, line up the outside edges of your hands pinky-to-pinky with your palms open so you can see them, and tap. These tapping actions along with saying your affirmation helps to set these energies in your energy body.
Over the next month, as you create your practice of saying your affirmations each day, notice how you feel as you say them. Notice those affirmations that gain strength and power. By the same token, notice if you find that they lose their resonances with you if you no longer feel they have the possibility they once had. If they lose their energy, then drop the process of saying those affirmations. We will address them later.
