During this time of the Harvest Moon, the larger and underground vegetables become abundant for harvesting. Now too is the time to harvest your big projects that you’ve been cultivating throughout the year. Take time to complete your large yearlong projects, harvest their results, and celebrate what you’ve accomplished.
In the fall, the fruits and berries ripen first. They are smaller and require less exposure from the sun. During this time of the Harvest Moon, the larger and underground vegetables (squash, gourds, potatoes, etc.) become abundant for harvesting and preserving for the winter and spring months ahead. While earlier varieties of these vegetables have been available, now is the time for a full harvest before the first frost that destroys the cell structures of the plants.
Now too is the time to harvest your big projects that you’ve been cultivating throughout the year. It’s the time to complete them. By completing all your projects that you’ve been cultivating throughout the growing season, it frees you for the fall months, which beg for reflection of the growing season. You need to have these high-energy activities completed before winter, before you lock the doors for the long cold nights of winter ahead.
Consider your project harvesting as a success step. A success step is a concrete demonstrable success, something that an outside observer would recognize. Success steps are distinguishable from statements you might make daily in your Success Journal, as Success Steps are recognized by someone else, where a daily success may not be, even though you personally recognize it.
Other hallmarks of Success Steps:
- You probably won’t have to do it again.
- It is something that you can build on; it’s a foundation.
- Others acknowledge it.
- It will still have significance later, it’s a laurel that you can rest on.
So take time now to complete your large yearlong projects, harvest their results, and celebrate what you’ve accomplished. The Harvest Moon time is often accompanied by harvest ceremonies. Considering participating in some fall festival and use the event to celebrate the completion of your own activities.
