This Freeze-up Moon is a time to get grounded. Allow your own energies to move down into the earth, to feel the earth, and feel grounded in your daily lives. This is also a time to continue to slow down from the busy, sunny days of summer.
This Freeze-up Moon is a time when the energies of the earth retreat below the frozen ground. As we approach the Winter solstice (or the shortest day of the year and the longest night), you will notice how the nights are getting longer and longer. Likewise, nature’s energy retreats into the earth, temperatures turn cooler, and the leaves turn colors. Metaphorically then it is a time to get grounded. Since the energies are moving deep into the Earth, below the freezing point, this is a time to allow your own energies to move down into the earth, to feel the earth, and to feel grounded in your daily lives.
Correspondingly, as the energies retreat and freeze up, they also slow down. Have you allowed yourself to slow down a bit after the busy energies of summer? It may be difficult with the end of the year approaching with all its needs to complete tasks, along with the holidays and all its needs to visit family and other communities of friends.
Indeed, it can be hard to slow down when usually, the fall months are busy with holiday plans, visiting, and wrapping up business activities prior to the close of the calendar year.
However, if you take some time to allow yourself a slower pace in your external life over the next few months, then you can have energy conserved for a private, personal, internal self-reflective life during the hectic holiday season.
So during this Freeze-Up Moon, slow down, get grounded, and appreciate the shorter days.
